Job summary

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia for a 12-month, full-time position. The post supports service expansion and flexible consultant cover within a 30-anaesthetist department at a state-of-the-art facility in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will join a diverse team providing a broad portfolio including regional and supra-regional surgical specialties, with opportunities for PICU responsibilities.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent.
• 12 months advanced Paediatric Anaesthesia training.
• Training, experience and or interest in Chronic Pain Medicine.
• Basic experience in management eg trainee rotas.
• Preparation of audit.
• Understanding of NHS management responsibilities of consultants.
• Has interest in research and undertaken clinical projects.
• Shown evidence of interest in relevant specialist research.
• Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff.
• Ability to work as a team with professional colleagues from medical and other disciplines.
• Ability to teach.

Responsibilities

• Provide anaesthetic services to accommodate service expansion, consultant cover and flexibility, and to cover consultants who are on leave.
• There may be opportunity for those with appropriate qualifications to take on additional PICU responsibilities.
