Job summary

Locum Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedics (Lower Limb) at St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Newport. This fixed term post for 12 months offers 10 programmed activities and a 1:7 on-call commitment.

The successful candidate will join a friendly multidisciplinary team to deliver elective and trauma care, participate in audit and research, and support patient care for island residents and visitors with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent. MRCS or equivalent.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for orthopaedics and trauma; CESR or eligible for entry on the Register or within 6 months of the receipt of Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
• Lower limb arthroplasty fellowship and training in orthopaedics and trauma.

Responsibilities

• To assist in the provision of a comprehensive orthopaedic and trauma service.
• To lead in the day-to-day management of orthopaedic and trauma patients.
• To undertake theatre lists and clinics as required.
• To participate in the 1:7 on-call rota with prospective cover for leave.
