Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a Lower Limb focus for a six-month assignment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. The appointee will perform primary knee and hip arthroplasty and participate in on-call duties, with occasional off-site clinics.

The post supports a busy department with a robust elective ward and a dedicated trauma unit, aiming to maintain high standards of care and training of junior staff.

Qualifications

• GMC registration in good standing.
• FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent required.
• Proven track record in independent knee and hip arthroplasty.
• Experience in teaching and training junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Join the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Orthopaedics dept for six months.
• Carry out primary knee and hip arthroplasty procedures.
• Participate in the on-call rota as part of the service.
• Base at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead with occasional off-site clinics.
