Locum Histopathologist – Lead Cellular Pathology

Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant Pathologist to join the Cellular Pathology team at Lister Hospital, Stevenage. The post is fixed-term and based in Stevenage, comprising 10 programmed activities with no on-call commitment.

You will work with the current team of 9 consultants to provide a comprehensive cellular pathology service across the Trust and region, including surgical cutup, reporting and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• To participate in surgical cutup, surgical reporting, cytology reporting, Frozen section reporting.
• To advise and be available for consultation on clinical matters with clinical colleagues in the hospital, general practitioners and Trust staff.
• To participate in the training of the Clinical fellows.
• To be responsible for interpretation of results and advise on appropriate further investigations where necessary.
• To participate in the management of the service and work with laboratory staff to set clinical priorities.
• To lead laboratory staff on clinical matters and supervise day-to-day handling of cases.
• To participate in audit, accreditation and quality assurance schemes.
• To undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required by the Royal College of Pathologists.
