Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Stroke Physician to join the Broomfield Hospital team in Chelmsford for a fixed term of 12 months. Our Broomfield Hospital site is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Locum Consultant Stroke Physician to join our fantastic consultant team on a fixed term basis. Main duties of the job

The components of the service which the successful applicant will help to provide are:

• Thecomprehensivestrokethrombolysisservice,andabest-endeavorstrokethrombectomy service
• Rapid Assessment Clinic for TIA/minor stroke patients held five days a weekwhere20-25suspectednewstroke/TIApatientsareseenperweek.Thereisalsoaserviceforhigh-riskTIApatientsatweekendsandbankholidays.Thesevendaya week service includes same day CT or MRI scan and Carotid Doppler. We arecurrentlyachievingourperformancetargetsforhighriskandlowriskpatients andlookingtoadapt thisservice in viewofthelatestRCP guidelines.
• Currently, 7 days/week there is 9.00 am consultant – led multidisciplinary wardround for all new suspected stroke/TIA admissions and a daily review of all otherpatientson Stroke Unit
• Multidisciplinary rehabilitation of stroke patients on the stroke ward includingmeetingswith relatives
• Weekly outpatient clinics providing for new referrals and medical follow up forrecentlydischarged stroke patientsandotherpatients
• Stronglinkswithdiagnosticimaging,vascularsurgery,cardiologyandneurology.
• On-going educational programme for all disciplines within the department andlecturesto GPsand other interestedgroups.

• Able to take full and independent responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
