Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant Paediatrician to join our busy paediatric department. You will provide expert care across general paediatrics in secondary and tertiary settings and supervise junior medical staff.

Applicants must have Full GMC registration, MRCPCH or equivalent, be on or within six months of UK Specialist Register, and hold APLS/EPLS. DBS clearance applies, and the post includes probationary and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding practices.
• Experience with clinical audit and quality improvement.
• UK medical qualifications including GMC registration and specialty MRCPCH.
• Eligibility criteria: on UK Specialist Register or within 6 months of specialist registration, APLS/EPLS.
• Desirable: management/administration experience, research or innovations, higher qualifications, CCT or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria

• General paediatric experience in both secondary and tertiary care
• Experience of supervising junior medical staff

Desirable criteria

• Experience in managing paediatric epilepsy or another special interest that will complement the needs of the department
• 6/12 Experience in PICU during training
• Experience in managing paediatric patients in MDT setting

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)

It is the policy of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost for their DBS certificate. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay on commencement with the Trust. The DBs check will be undertaken during the pre-employment check screening.

New Starters - Probationary Period

For any new employees commencing employment with North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, you will be subject to satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period. Please note that internal applications and individuals that are appointed to fixed term appointments of less than 6 months duration are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or a bank member of staff).
