Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist with Interest in Obstetrics to provide specialist anaesthetic services, focusing on general and obstetric anaesthesia. You will work with colleagues to support safe care for surgical and maternity patients and contribute to training junior doctors.

The role involves leadership in clinical governance, education, and service development within an NHS anaesthetic department, with flexibility in the job plan

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise
• FRCA or equivalent
• Higher anesthesia training or equivalent
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligible
• Desirable postgraduate degree/research experience
• Visa sponsorship considered subject to eligibility

Responsibilities

• Provide general anaesthesia services across relevant surgical specialties
• Deliver obstetric anaesthesia for obstetric patients
• Collaborate with consultant anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams
• Support safe, high-quality patient care in surgical and maternity services
• Participate in clinical governance, patient safety initiatives and service improvement
• Supervise and educate medical students and doctors in training
• Contribute to evidence-based practice and quality improvement
• Maintain professional standards and accurate clinical documentation
• Adapt to service requirements and cover other Trust sites as needed
