Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust in Stevenage is seeking a Locum Consultant in Elderly Care for a fixed-term 12-month appointment, based predominantly at the Lister Hospital. The post includes 10 programmed activities per week with a 1.25PA on-call commitment.

Part-time and job-share applicants are welcome; the job plan also includes 2 Supporting Programmed Activities per week and development of outpatient services to meet population needs.

Person specification
Qualifications/ Training
  • Full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice.
  • RCP or equivalent
  • Evidence of being up to date and fit to practice safely, and aware of own training needs
  • Royal College Fellowship
Previous Experience
  • Broad range of experience in Elderly and general medicine. In particular: • Experience of complex care and discharge planning • Fully competent in broad range of medical issues in older and general medical patients.
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
  • Interest/experience in provision of whole hospital comprehensive geriatric assessment
Skills
  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
  • Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
Secondments/Fixed term
