Job summary

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is recruiting a Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the Midlands on an interim basis. The role offers hybrid working with onsite presence in the Midlands and a start ASAP, for a period of 3+ months, at a rate of up to £65 per hour umbrella.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality advice on complex commercial contracts, procurement, and construction agreements, manage a diverse caseload, and support Senior

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (or equivalent) with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and procurement matters within a Local Authority setting.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience advising Senior Officers, Members and corporate leadership teams.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality legal advice on complex commercial contracts, procurement, and construction agreements for internal departments and Senior Officers.
• Manage a complex caseload involving supply of goods, works and services.
• Draft, review and advise on bespoke and standard-form commercial agreements.
• Advise on public procurement legislation, the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, subsidy control and other relevant legislation.
• Identify and advise on legal and commercial risk, protecting Council interests.
• Provide wider legal advice to council departments as required.

Key Details:

Role: Locum Commercial Contracts & Procurement Lawyer

Working Arrangement: Full Time or Part Time considered

Onsite Requirement: Weekly or fortnightly in the Midlands

Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella

Start: ASAP

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality legal advice, supporting internal departments and Senior Officers on a range of complex commercial contracts, procurement, and construction agreements
