Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust is seeking a 12-month locum consultant clinical oncologist to cover colorectal and brain tumour sites at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. You will run oncology services with multidisciplinary teams and participate in out-of-hours on-call across multiple sites, including community locations.

Applicants must hold GMC registration and a FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or an equivalent qualification, with opportunities to supervise juniors, contribute to audits, and engage in

Qualifications

• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• Higher medical qualification such as MRCP.
• FRCR (Clinical Oncology) or equivalent for medical oncology.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive oncology service with consultant colleagues and lead oncology input into site-specialised cancer services.
• Work with and support established site-specific multidisciplinary teams.
• Take part in the out-of-hours service and provide acute oncology.
• Liaise with surgeons, physicians and staff in other specialties across the Trust.
• Cover consultant colleagues' leave.
• Supervise and manage junior medical staff.
• Teach, examine and accredit, and contribute to postgraduate and continuing education locally and nationally.
• Carry out clinical audit, continuing medical education, appraisal and an annual job planning review.
• Take part in research, including clinical trials.
• Work across the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and community sites.
