Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a consultant clinical oncologist specialising in breast and colorectal cancers, based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Other tumour sites would be considered.

This replacement post attracts 10 programmed activities and an on‑call supplement, with contribution to an out‑of‑hours rota being core to the role. The post involves work across both RSH and PRH and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive oncology service with consultant colleagues and contribute to site‑specific cancer service development.
• Collaborate with the department to develop oncology services and work with MDTs.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours service and provide an acute oncology service.
• Liaise with surgeons, physicians and staff across the Trust.
• Provide cover for consultant colleagues' leave.
• Supervise junior medical staff.
• Undertake teaching, examinations and accreditation duties and contribute to education locally and nationally.
• Undertake clinical audit, continuing medical education and annual job planning review.
• Engage in research and participate in clinical trials.
• Undertake work at both Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
