Job summary

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Cellular Pathology to join our busy, high-performing department in Hemel Hempstead. The role covers histopathology and diagnostic cytology with opportunities in gynecological, dermatopathology, GI and breast pathology, plus cytology, mortuary and MDT work.

The successful candidate will support service development and cross-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Specialist registration (or within six months) required.
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification essential.
• Broad cellular pathology experience across subspecialties preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality histopathology and diagnostic cytology reporting.
• Participate in subspecialty cancer diagnostics and MDTs.
• Provide MDT input and contribute to autopsy and andrology services where appropriate.
• Manage workload, ensure timely reporting, and participate in audit and governance.
• Support service development, teaching, and cross-site collaboration with clinicians.
