Job summary

DB Cargo UK is recruiting a Locomotive Engineer in the Dollands Moor area to join our engineering team. You will support the safe, efficient maintenance and operation of our locomotives, performing maintenance and repair work and assisting with breakdowns and incidents.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 and hands-on rail experience; a valid manual driving license is required, with a 1-hour commute. A generous benefits package accompanies the salary.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a valid manual driving license.
• Live within a 1-hour commute.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) as a minimum.
• NVQ Level 3 could have been obtained through engineering apprenticeship or college/sixth form.
• Hands-on engineering experience which must be shown in the application.
• Experience in a similar rail sector role would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support safe, efficient maintenance and operation of locomotives.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems (above Unit 339 or 350 level, below ELT1/EWT1).
• Carry out work per Vehicle Maintenance and Overhaul Instructions (VMOI).
• Assist with breakdowns, recovery operations and other T&RS-related incidents.
