Job summary

DB Cargo UK Limited is recruiting a Locomotive Engineer in the Dollands Moor area to join our engineering team. You will support the safe, efficient maintenance and operation of our locomotives and contribute to maintenance, repair and overhaul work.

The role requires hands-on engineering experience, a valid manual driving license, and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). A rail sector background is advantageous and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold a valid manual driving license.
• Live within a 1-hour commute.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) as a minimum.
• Hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience in the rail sector would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support the safe, efficient maintenance and operation of locomotives.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems above Unit 339 or Unit 350 level.
• Carry out work in accordance with VM01/VMOI instructions.
• Assist with breakdowns, recovery operations and other T&RS-related incidents as required.
• Report defective items and order materials when needed.
• Prepare accurate reports for ongoing work, including condition and production reports.
• Contribute ideas and practical support to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support on-the-job training for team members and depot staff.
