Job summary

New College Swindon is seeking a practical and reliable Lockdown Technician to join the Estates and Facilities team. You will support the safe operation of College campuses, handling opening/closing, room setups, porterage and first-line maintenance in a hands-on role.

You will work across North Star, Queens Drive and other sites, contributing to security, events and day-to-day campus safety while delivering a visible professional service to staff, students and visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 English and Maths.
• Experience in facilities support, security or related operations.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and stay calm under changing demands.
• Willingness to undertake First Aid and Fire Warden training.

Responsibilities

• Lock and unlock College buildings, gates and designated areas.
• Carry out site checks and support campus security and emergency procedures.
• Monitor alarms, access points and security concerns.
• Support room setups for teaching, meetings, examinations and events.
• Carry out porterage duties including deliveries and movement of equipment.
• Maintain external areas and respond to spills, weather issues and cleaning needs.
• Undertake minor repairs and first-line maintenance tasks within competency.
• Support examinations, enrolment, open events, hires and lettings.
• Provide a professional service to staff, students, visitors and contractors.
• Report defects and Health & Safety issues promptly.

Are you practical, reliable and looking for a varied role where you can make a real difference to the safety and day-to-day running of a busy College environment?

We’re looking for a Lockdown Technician to join our Estates and Facilities team, supporting the safe, secure and effective operation of our College campuses. From opening and securing buildings to room setups, porterage, events and first-line facilities support, this is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

What you\'ll do

• Lock and unlock College buildings, gates and designated areas.
• Carry out site checks and support campus security and emergency procedures.
• Monitor alarms, access points and security concerns.
• Support room setups for teaching, meetings, examinations and events.
• Carry out porterage duties, including deliveries, mail and movement of equipment.
• Maintain external areas and respond to urgent cleaning, spillages and adverse weather issues.
• Undertake minor repairs and first-line maintenance tasks within your competency.
• Support examinations, enrolment, open events, commercial hires and lettings.
• Provide a visible, professional and helpful service to staff, students, visitors and contractors.
• Report defects, security concerns and Health & Safety issues promptly.

• Willingness to work across North Star, Queens Drive and other College sites as required.
