Job summary

Veolia is seeking an Education, Communications and Outreach (ECO) Lead to develop and deliver community engagement and service improvement projects across Solihull, driving changes in resident behavior to boost recycling and reduce waste.

The Local ECO Lead will work with the Area ECO Manager and a national ECO team, coordinating with the Solihull Council and Veolia colleagues to deliver measurable results on time. This is a hybrid role with an FTC until October 2027.

Qualifications

• Project development and management experience.
• Budget management experience.
• Experience delivering behaviour change and/or community engagement techniques and analysing results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation abilities.
• Experience building strong stakeholder relationships.
• A passion for sustainability and the environment.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with our client (Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council) and Veolia colleagues across contracts.
• Lead ECO delivery for Veolia Solihull and provide occasional ECO support to additional contracts in the region.
• Drive ECO performance through project planning and a bespoke community engagement approach.
• Deliver a programme of social value initiatives across local employment, community and funding.
• Identify good news stories and coordinate with the external engagement team and showcase social value delivery.
• Develop and deliver internal communications campaigns with the senior ECO team.
• Manage the contract ECO team budget and the business-as-usual outputs for the Solihull contract.

What you'll be doing:

As an Education, Communications and Outreach (ECO) Lead you will develop and deliver community engagement and service improvement projects across Solihull, changing resident behaviours to reduce waste and increase recycling, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, demonstrate measurable results and meet agreed timelines. The Local ECO Lead will be supported by an Area ECO Manager, sharing best practice and expertise with colleagues across a fantastic, award winning national ECO team.

You will:

• Build strong relationships with our key client (Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council) and Veolia colleagues across a number of contracts, quickly responding to queries and providing solutions to maintain a high standard of service.
• Lead on ECO delivery for Veolia Solihull while also providing occasional ECO support to additional contracts across the region as needed.
• Drive the ECO performance of the Solihull contract through effective project planning, and a bespoke community engagement approach
• Deliver a programme of strategic social value initiatives across local employment, community and staff engagement, and our funding programme for local communities.
• Identify good news stories and feed them to the regional external engagement team, as well as working closely with this team to showcase our expertise in behaviour change and social value delivery across digital channels and press.
• Work closely with the senior ECO team to develop and deliver internal communications campaigns.
• Take responsibility for the 'business as usual' outputs of the Solihull contract, including management of the contract ECO team budget.
