Job summary

Imerys is seeking a Processing Operative/Loading Shovel Driver for Newton Abbot. The role is a hands-on position, operating loading shovel and production equipment to keep materials moving and meet targets with a strong safety focus.

You’ll work 37.5 hours across Monday to Friday with rotating slots 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm. Salary starts at £27,573.14 plus £1,918.80 shift allowance, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience of Loading Shovel driving.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, quarrying or production environment.
• Good numerical, written and basic IT skills.
• A strong focus on health and safety.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Operating loading shovel and plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• Running shredding, blending and milling processes.
• Carrying out routine equipment checks and inspections.
• Completing pre-start safety checks.
• Identifying and reporting equipment defects.
• Supporting basic maintenance activities.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards across the site.
• Working closely with production and maintenance colleagues.
• Helping us achieve production targets without compromising safety or quality.
