Job summary

Simple Recruitment Services Ltd in Bicester is seeking an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to join a busy waste and composting operation. This is a hands‑on outdoor role operating a Loading Shovel to support the site’s daily activities, loading vehicles, moving materials and assisting the composting and recycling process.

The shift is Monday to Friday, 07:00–17:00 with paid hours and weekend overtime available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a Loading Shovel is essential.
• Valid Loading Shovel licence or certification.
• Experience in waste, recycling, quarry, composting, agricultural, or industrial environments beneficial.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong health and safety awareness and practices.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.
• Flexible to work overtime at weekends when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Loading Shovel safely and efficiently.
• Load articulated (HGV) vehicles using a Loading Shovel.
• Load collection vehicles as required.
• Transport materials around the site.
• Load tunnels, shredders and other processing equipment.
• Support composting and recycling operations.
• Carry out basic mobile plant maintenance (greasing/ cleaning).
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Report defects, hazards or issues promptly.

Loading Shovel Operator

Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX27

Pay Rate: £17 per hour

Shift Pattern

• Monday to Friday
• 07:00 - 17:00
• Paid 9.5 hours per day
• Weekend overtime available (Saturday or Sunday as required, paid at overtime rates)

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to join a busy waste and composting operation based in Bicester.

This is a hands‑on role working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a Loading Shovel to support the site’s daily operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading vehicles, moving materials around the facility, and supporting various stages of the composting and recycling process while maintaining strict health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating a Loading Shovel safely and efficiently
• Loading articulated (HGV) vehicles using a Loading Shovel
• Loading collection vehicles as required
• Transporting materials around the site
• Loading tunnels, shredders, screeners, and other processing equipment
• Supporting composting and recycling operations
• Carrying out basic mobile plant maintenance, including greasing and cleaning equipment
• Following all health and safety procedures at all times
• Reporting any defects, hazards, or operational issues promptly
