Job summary

Multimodal Solutions, part of the DP World group, is seeking a Load Safety Checker for our Chester site. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 6:30pm, outdoors on-site.

You will inspect trailers, monitor load safety and restraints, assist drivers with loading, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. CCNSG is preferred; knowledge of LGV procedures and HSE legislation is desirable. A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within the road haulage, transport, logistics or distribution sector.
• Confident communicating with LGV/HGV drivers and colleagues, able to work independently, and committed to maintaining safe working practices and high compliance standards.
• Ideally hold a CCNSG Safety Passport and have knowledge of LGV driver procedures, different trailer types, and relevant HSE legislation.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and basic IT proficiency are essential.
• A flexible, proactive and responsible approach is important, together with the ability to work outdoors and manage your workload with minimal supervision.
• A full, clean driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet incoming LGV drivers, conducting site inductions and safety briefings
• Monitor and enforce customer load safety and load restraint standards throughout site operationsCarryout safety inspections of trailers prior to loading and unloading activities
• Assist LGV drivers in preparing trailers for loading and ensure loads are correctly configured and secured before departure
• Supervise and control haulier drivers while on site, ensuring compliance with site safety procedures
• Complete reports relating to non-conformances and safety issues, escalating concerns where appropriate

Load Safety Checker - Multimodal Solutions is looking for a Load Safety Checker to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis at our customer site in Chester, Cheshire.

About the role:

As a Load Safety Checker, you will play an important role in maintaining the safe and compliant movement of goods by monitoring and enforcing load safety and load restraint standards for visiting LGV road hauliers. Working as part of a dedicated customer service and operations team, you will carry out trailer safety inspections, support drivers while on site, and help ensure consistently high standards of health and safety compliance. Working hours for this role will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 6:30pm. The role is site-based and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
