Job summary

Leicester City Council is seeking a part-time advocate with lived experience of drugs and alcohol misuse to join the Public Health Division at City Hall. This fixed-term role offers 15 hours per week for six months, with some on-site Wednesdays and flexible hours to suit the team and funding.

You will support projects across harm reduction, service improvement, and community involvement, helping to keep the voices of people with lived experience at the heart of our work.

Qualifications

• The most important experience you will need is your lived experience of drug/alcohol use and being in recovery from this.
• Be able to empathise with people with living experience.
• Have some knowledge about drug/alcohol treatment and recovery services.
• Be keen to join in team activities and be willing to learn new things.
• Have a positive and enthusiastic approach to our work.
• Suggest improvements to our area of work, and we would hope that you will feel confident to do this.

Responsibilities

• Join meetings with drug and alcohol treatment and recovery service providers, either face to face or online.
• Support projects including harm reduction and improving service delivery.
• Assist with completing administrative tasks and keeping records.
• Provide information to the public and share ideas.
