Job summary

St Christopher’s Hospice is recruiting a Lived Experience Community Connector to help grow inclusive community participation. The role focuses on connecting people with lived experience to initiatives, ensuring their voices influence our work.

You will work with the Community Action Team and Community Support Hub in a hybrid setting to deliver compassionate outreach and engagement. The position requires experience with diverse communities, strong communication skills, and the ability to provide

About the roleSt Christopher’s Hospice is seeking a passionate and organised Lived Experience Community Connector to join our Community Action Team.

This role focuses on supporting community membersparticipatingin lived experience projectsandlearningopportunities. You’llengage withpeople with lived experience in community settings to connect them to initiatives ensuring their voice and views are better represented in our work. Your work will prioritise the participation,inclusionand involvement of people with lived experience in initiatives whichseekto make changes to the way we work, helping to support the quality of our services.

This post-holder will work closely with the Community Support Hub and Lived Experience Programme in the Community Action Team.The emphasis of this role will be on teamworkand excellent communication.

What you’ll do

  • Focus on understanding the needs of community members and to work with the team to ensure that they are met where that is possible
  • Recruit communitymembersto take part in lived experience projectstowidenparticipation.
  • Uphold compassionate values towards anyone who wants to be involved and to work positively and respectfully with community members
  • Ensure that people’s pastoral needs are met by offering pastoral support
  • Help developtheskills and confidence of people involved in lived experience projects.
  • To promoteCommunityAction projects to the public,and relevantcommunity and faith groups,organisationsand charities.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in working on projects which involve engaging and working with community members from diverse groups.
  • Skilled in engaging with people experiencing sensitive life events.
  • A strong communicator who has excellent interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and able to hold sensitive conversations.
  • A passion for supporting individuals and communities through the challenges of end-of-life experiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Systems and Databases to support outreach efforts.
