Job summary

SER Limited in Reading is seeking an organised, proactive Warehouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy warehouse supporting the lighting and live events industry.

This hands-on role combines team leadership with forward planning: you will schedule workloads, ensure the right staff and equipment are in place, and keep operations running smoothly, including loading, unloading and equipment preparation. You will also coordinate freelance staff during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or operations role with supervisory responsibility.
• Ability to organise workloads and manage competing priorities.
• Strong forward-planning skills for staffing and equipment.
• Hands-on management style, leading by example.
• Good communication and delegation skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive problem-solving with initiative.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the warehouse to ensure efficiency and high standards.
• Schedule workloads, allocate tasks and delegate across the team.
• Plan ahead for upcoming projects, anticipating staffing and equipment needs.
• Lead, support and motivate warehouse operatives and drivers.
• Hands-on involvement in equipment preparation, loading and unloading.
• Coordinate truck packs and equipment returns, ensuring accuracy.
