Job description

Some careers open more doors than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Our Risk and Compliance function plays a critical role in supporting, challenging, and advising across all areas of the business. We focus on establishing policies, monitoring profiles, and identifying and managing forward-looking risks and compliance. We aim to create an environment where our people feel encouraged to speak up and do the right thing, protecting our customers, the organization, and the integrity of the financial markets we operate in. As an industry leader, we continue to set standards and evolve to meet strategic changes.

The Liquidity Risk Assurance Manager will support the delivery of assurance reviews, leveraging expertise within Liquidity. The successful candidate should have thorough experience in at least one of the following areas: regulatory reporting, first line of defence liquidity risk management, second line of defence liquidity risk oversight, or broader treasury risk experience.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to professional development opportunities and a competitive benefits package, including private healthcare, enhanced maternity and adoption pay, support for returning to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you will:

  1. Provide expertise, advice, guidance, and challenge to stakeholders through retrospective reviews of regulatory reporting and risk management processes.
  2. Support targeted assurance reviews and deep dives of end-to-end processes related to high-risk liquidity returns and internal metrics (e.g., Liquidity Coverage Ratio, Net Stable Funding Ratio, internal liquidity stress testing) across various jurisdictions.
  3. Challenge stakeholders on risk and control management, including inherent and residual risks, control effectiveness, issues, actions, and events.
  4. Collaborate with the business to understand the impact of emerging risks and ensure controls, resources, and operations remain within risk appetite.
  5. Work closely with both onshore and offshore teams, managing team members in offshore locations throughout the assurance lifecycle.

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:

  1. Have extensive experience in at least one aspect of liquidity, such as regulatory reporting, liquidity risk management, or treasury risk.
  2. Experience liaising with senior stakeholders on liquidity risk matters, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating risk management in business language.
  4. An understanding of the assurance lifecycle and the role of assurance as a second line risk function is advantageous.
  5. Be a self-starter, proactive, and eager to learn.

This role is based in London / Hybrid.
