Job summary

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) invites applications for a Linux Systems Administrator to join the Research Computing team in Norwich. You will support the research computing infrastructure, handle incidents, perform OS and service upgrades, and assist users with end-user services.

The role requires a Bachelor in computer science (Masters preferred), strong Linux/UNIX skills, scripting, and careful, accurate work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent required.
• Deep knowledge of Linux/UNIX command line and system administration.
• Programming and scripting knowledge in a Linux/UNIX environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the Research Computing Infrastructure Group and Service Management Group.
• Respond to service-raised incidents and handle all service requests.
• Perform operating system and service upgrades and inform customers on progress.
• Support end-user services and assist research computing engineers in daily tasks.
