Job summary

Gazelle Global Consulting Limited in Stevenage is seeking a Senior Linux/HPC Engineer to support a scientific computing environment. The role is hands-on, covering Linux infrastructure, HPC clusters, workload scheduling, and scientific application support, collaborating with research and technical teams.

You will keep the environment secure, stable and high-performing, troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, and work to improve cluster utilisation and job throughput through ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience in administering RHEL 7/8/9 and troubleshooting Linux systems.
• Proven HPC cluster management and Slurm configuration experience.
• Experience supporting scientific or research applications in Linux HPC environments.
• Knowledge of MPI, compilers and scientific libraries.
• Experience with hardware/OS/scheduler/application troubleshooting.
• Experience with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM.
• Desirable: GPU/CUDA, Docker, Ansible and InfiniBand.

Job description

You'll keep the environment secure, stable and performing effectively, while troubleshooting infrastructure and application issues and improving cluster utilisation and job throughput.

Key Skills:

• Strong RHEL 7, 8 and 9 administration and troubleshooting
• HPC cluster management and Slurm configuration
• Scientific or research application support in Linux HPC environments
• MPI, compilers and scientific libraries
• Hardware, OS, scheduler and application troubleshooting
• ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM experience
• GPU/CUDA, Docker, Ansible and InfiniBand are desirable

The role is based in Stevenage with a minimum of 3 days onsite each week.
