Job summary

Imperial College London is seeking a dedicated IT professional to join the Computing Support Group within the Department of Computing. You will maintain reliable Linux services, drive automation and collaborate across staff, researchers and students to support teaching and research.

You will help maintain labs and development environments, contribute to security, backups and resilience, and work with College ICT teams to deliver shared services and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• We are looking for a degree in Computer Science or closely related subject, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in Linux and Windows systems administration, networking, security, backups, databases, web hosting and configuration management.
• Experience with virtualisation, cloud services, systems programming or student information systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliable, secure and high-performing Linux computing services to support teaching, research and admin activities.
• Maintain and improve departmental infrastructure with a focus on automation, scalability, performance and resilience.
• Collaborate with academic staff, researchers and technical colleagues to understand requirements and provide effective systems, network and user support.
• Support teaching laboratories, development environments and systems used for student projects; work with College ICT teams to deliver shared services.
