Job summary

Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services (BDLSS) in Oxford seeks two full‑time Linux administrators to keep Bodleian Libraries’ digital services reliable, secure and easy to maintain. You will work with software engineers on deployment, upgrades, patching and troubleshooting across Linux‑based applications and infrastructure.

You will operate and improve cloud and virtualised infrastructure, implement monitoring, logging and alerting, support containerised applications and plan backup,

Qualifications

• Demonstrable Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with automated provisioning and deployment, configuration management and patching.
• Good understanding of relational databases, PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Linux-based systems and applications including deployment, configuration, upgrades and patching.
• Operate and develop cloud and virtualised infrastructure with emphasis on security and reliability.
• Monitor, log and alert production systems; support containerised applications and recovery testing.
• Contribute to architecture, deployment improvements and business continuity planning.
