G-Research in London seeks a Linux Engineer to build and evolve the Linux platform underpinning our compute environment. You’ll work across OS builds, provisioning, observability, security and tooling to enable scalable, reliable research infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have deep Linux knowledge (RHEL/Ubuntu), kernel internals and strong Python and IaC experience with Ansible, plus a security-first mindset and interest in AI-driven operations.

Qualifikationen

• Strong hands-on Linux experience with RHEL/Ubuntu.
• Deep understanding of Linux internals including boot, kernel modules and filesystems.
• Experience with kernel optimisation and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of eBPF for observability and security enforcement is a plus.
• Strong Python programming skills and IaC experience.
• In-depth Linux security including hardening and CIS benchmarks.
• Interest in AI-driven operations and autonomous systems.

Aufgaben

• Building, releasing and maintaining core Linux OS images across the estate.
• Developing provisioning and lifecycle management systems (PXE, kickstart, cloud-init).
• Designing and maintaining APIs, databases and package tooling.
• Applying Infrastructure as Code practices (Ansible) to deployments.
• Leading vulnerability response and kernel remediation.
• Contributing to agentic frameworks for autonomous detection and remediation.
• Improving observability and telemetry for OS health and compliance.
