G-Research is seeking a Linux Engineer to build, maintain and evolve the Linux platforms (RHEL and Ubuntu) underpinning our compute environment. You will work across the full OS stack, from builds to observability, security and tooling, with an emphasis on automation and AI-enabled operations.

You will design agentic frameworks for autonomous detection, contribute to vulnerability response, and help ensure OS health and compliance across a large-scale research infrastructure in London.

Qualifikationen

• Strong hands-on Linux experience, especially RHEL and Ubuntu.
• Deep knowledge of Linux internals and boot process.
• Experience with Linux security, patch management and CIS benchmarks.
• Programming in Python and IaC (Ansible).
• Interest in AI-driven operations.

Aufgaben

• Building, releasing and maintaining core Linux OS images across the estate.
• Developing provisioning and lifecycle management systems, including PXE boot, kickstart and cloud-init.
• Designing and maintaining APIs, databases and package tooling used across the firm.
• Applying Infrastructure as Code practices, primarily using Ansible, to automate deployments.
• Leading vulnerability response, including CVE triage and kernel and package remediation.
• Helping design agentic frameworks for safe, autonomous detection and remediation.
• Improving observability and telemetry to track OS health, provisioning and compliance.
