Job summary

Forward Role is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve the company’s Linux-based infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. You’ll automate provisioning, harden security, and drive improvements in performance and resilience.

You will work with RHEL, Ubuntu, and CentOS, use Ansible/Puppet/Chef, and apply cloud skills in AWS/Azure/GCP, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable services.

Qualifications

• Solid Linux administration experience across RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS.
• Scripting skills in Bash and Python.
• Hands-on configuration management with Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
• Cloud platform knowledge (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and firewall fundamentals.
• Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, or Splunk.
• Exposure to containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and virtualization (VMware/KVM/Hyper-V).
• Sharp troubleshooting mindset and ability to work at pace.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support Linux infrastructure across on-prem, VM, and cloud.
• Automate provisioning and configuration with IaC/automation tools.
• Drive performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring.
• Own root-cause analysis and resolve complex OS-level issues.
• Manage patching, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
• Hardening and embedding security best practices across the estate.
• Support deployments, migrations and new software releases.
• Provide 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support and cross-team collaboration.
