Job summary

Ryanair is seeking a UK Outstations Engineer to lead its Engineering Line Stations in the UK from Stansted Airport. The role reports to the UK General Manager and the Technical Operations Manager and operates on a 4 on 4 off day shift rotation with a focus on leadership and seamless operation.

Ideal candidates will have Aircraft Line Maintenance experience and relevant EASA/CAA familiarity, strong time management, and proven ability to manage diverse, remote teams.

Qualifications

  • Aircraft Line Maintenance experience is essential.
  • Must possess strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Ryanair’s Engineering Line Stations in the UK.
  • Manpower planning, recruitment, retention and staff performance management.
  • Ensure spares and equipment are available at each location.
  • Budgeting, invoicing and contract management with external suppliers.
  • Conduct base visits, staff welfare and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor engineers and apprentices.
  • Investigate maintenance delays and safety/non‑compliance issues; implement fixes.

Job Description

Aircraft Engineering Service (AES Ltd) are inviting applications for a UK Outstations Engineer to be based in Stansted Airport working in cooperation with our client Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline. The successful candidate will be an operationally focused, highly adaptable and proven leader, who is able to demonstrate a flexible working attitude in fast‑changing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the UK General Manager and the Technical Operations Manager, the successful candidate, who will work on a 4 on 4 off day shift rotation, will be responsible for the leadership and management of Ryanair’s Engineering Line Stations in the UK.

  • Management of Routine Maintenance, Aircraft Incidents/AOGs and Third‑Party Liaison.
  • Manpower planning, recruitment, retention and staff performance management.
  • Ensuring appropriate spares and equipment are available at each location.
  • Budgeting, invoicing and negotiation/management of contracts with external suppliers/companies.
  • Conducting regular base visits, ensuring staff welfare and regulatory (UK CAA and EASA) compliances.
  • Supervisions and mentoring of Engineer, Aircraft Mechanics and Apprentices.
  • Investigating Maintenance Delays, Engineering Safety Reports and Non‑Compliance, implementing strategies to prevent recurrence.
Requirements

We are looking for a motivated self‑starter with managerial experience who is ready, willing and able to manage technical teams in a diverse and fast‑changing environment.

  • Aircraft Line Maintenance experience (Essential).
  • EASA Part‑66 B1/B2 License holder & recency (Desirable).
  • Boeing 737‑NG Type Endorsement (Desirable – Type Courses Available).
  • Boeing 737‑Max Type Endorsement (Desirable – Type Courses Available).
  • Excellent time management, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and effectively communicate progress to Senior Management.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership experience, capable of remotely managing diverse teams.
  • Aeronautical Engineering background required.
  • Previous experience in Aviation or Engineering.
  • Good IT Literacy (Essential), with AMOS experience (Desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Applicants must have unrestricted right to work in the UK and hold a valid UK Driving License.
