A leading electrical wholesaler is seeking a Lighting Controls Application Engineer to design control solutions for large projects. This office-based role involves reviewing lighting enquiries, managing technical documentation, and requires excellent communication and technical skills. Responsibilities

• Review large lighting enquiries/projects and select/design control solutions.

Overview

The Lighting Controls Application Engineer, will review large lighting enquiries/projects and select/design the correct control solution. Including [where applicable] dimming topologies and architectures.

What we’re looking for

• Understanding of different dimming topologies and architectures such as: standalone sensors, wired LCMs, wired LCMs, DALI and DALI 2.
• Proficiency in MS Office & Bluebeam / CAD / Dialux / Relux
• Hands on work experience with different wired and wireless control systems in the lighting space.
• The ability to prepare and release ‘technical submissions’ documentation for projects.
• The ability to present design solutions to internal sales and customers.
• Experience of managing day-to-day enquiries relating to control systems and required controls philosophies.
• An eye for detail and the ability to follow processes and create required documentation
• Understanding of Zigbee and BLE Mesh technologies.
• Understanding of CIBSE relevant lighting guides (i.e. LG7 / LG10 etc)

• Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively and remain professional in circumstances under pressure
• Ability to work to tight schedules / deadlines

The role will be predominantly office based but will require site visits and may involve some overnight stays.

• Build a pipeline of lighting control quotes /designs
• Great conversion ratio: of Enquires - designs completed - orders won
• Deep understanding of key supplier control systems
• Keep up to date with regulations and legislations related to controls protocols.
