Job summary

Re-Ropes, part of WH Scott Group, seeks a Lift Roping Surveyor to join the London-based engineering team. You will survey rope conditions, wear on sheaves and diverters, and assess bearing failures, while identifying safe working procedures and scaffold requirements to support the sales team.

You will conduct on-site surveys, produce detailed reports with recommendations, and liaise with engineers and clients across London and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation/Maintenance preferred.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Live within commutable distance of Erith.
• Ability to work at height and follow strict safety procedures.
• Good understanding of rope construction and reeving arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and surveys of lift suspension ropes, belts, and associated components (sheaves, diverters, gears, motors)
• Assess rope wear, tension, lubrication, alignment, and overall condition
• Identify defects, compliance issues, and potential safety risks
• Produce detailed and accurate survey reports, including photographic evidence and technical recommendations
• Advise clients on rope replacement, maintenance requirements, and cost implications
• Ensure all works comply with UK regulations and industry standards
• Liaise with lift engineers, property managers, and contractors
• Travel across London and the surrounding areas as required
• Complete service documentation and reports accurately
• Represent the company and our customers professionally while working on site
• Demonstrate excellent punctuality and timekeeping
• Adapt to different working locations and site environments
