Job summary

Orona in Glasgow seeks an experienced Installation Engineer to deliver high-quality lift installations across regional sites, coordinating with project teams and clients to meet safety and quality standards.

You will lead Installation Mates, Improvers or Apprentices, ensure compliance with EN-81, manage site logistics, and document installation progress, timesheets and reports for management.

Qualifications

• Experience in lift installation projects across regional sites.
• Proven leadership of installation teams (mates, improvers, apprentices).
• Solid understanding of EN-81 regulations and lift systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, traction and MRL lifts is beneficial.
• CSCS, SSSTS and driving licence are expected/required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Review installation packs, drawings and specs to plan installations.
• Install lift systems to company and manufacturer standards; ensure tolerances and testing readiness.
• Supervise and develop Installation Mates, Improvers or Apprentices.
• Maintain health, safety and environmental standards on site.
• Complete timesheets, installation reports and communicate progress to management.

We are looking for an experienced Installation Engineer to join our Installation team in Glasgow, delivering high-quality lift installations across regional sites.

The Role

As a key member of the installation team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation of new lift systems, ensuring projects are completed to specification, on time, and ready for testing.

You will work closely with Contract Managers, Site Managers, and clients, while also managing and developing Installation Mates, Improvers, or Apprentices.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Installation Preparation

• Review installation packs, specifications, and engineering drawings


• Survey and set out lift shafts prior to installation


• Manage delivery checks and report shortages


• Build strong working relationships with site teams and clients

Lift Installation

• Install Orona's hydraulic, traction and MRL lift systems to company and manufacturer standards


• Ensure lifts are installed to correct tolerances and ready for testing


• Deliver installations that meet PAS 32 standards with minimal defects

Team Leadership

• Supervise and develop Installation Mates, Improvers or Apprentices


• Provide coaching, guidance and performance feedback

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental standards


• Enforce site safety rules and correct use of PPE

Operational Management

• Maintain company van, tools, and equipment


• Complete timesheets, job sheets and installation reports


• Communicate site progress, delays, and builder works to management

Experience

• Installation Engineer: Minimum 3 years lift installation experience

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of EN-81 regulations


• Knowledge of lift wiring systems and electrical components


• Experience installing hydraulic, MRL and traction lifts

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Installation or equivalent


• LEIA Units (Lift Technology) as appropriate to level


• SSSTS or equivalent (for Senior / Lead roles)


• CSCS certification or ability to obtain


• Full UK Driving Licence
