Job summary

Schindler Ltd (UK) in Dundee seeks a Lift Installation Engineer to deliver new lift installations across Scotland, including testing and handover. You will work with project teams, site personnel and customers to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes that keep people moving efficiently.

The role requires a lift engineering qualification, extensive installation experience, strong fault-finding abilities and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Lift engineering qualification (NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent) and lift installation experience.
• Proven lift equipment installation experience in new, refurbishment or modernisation projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of lift installation practices and industry standards.
• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills with problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Good communication and relationship-building with customers, site teams and inspectors.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Commitment to safe working practices and quality standards.
• Experience with a broad range of lift products and systems.
• Knowledge of lift testing, commissioning or acceptance inspection processes.
• Experience on major construction, infrastructure or large-scale development projects.
• Mechanical or electrical qualifications in addition to lift industry training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Install lift shafts, mechanical components and ancillary equipment per installation procedures and safety requirements.
• Assemble traction equipment, align and adjust lift systems.
• Install and tension suspension ropes and safety equipment on new or modernisation projects.
• Install lift entrances, doors, frames and safety devices including manual and automatic systems.
• Carry out final installation checks, pre-commissioning and handover readiness.
• Conduct site surveys and review installation requirements for efficient delivery.
• Monitor site progress and provide updates on work completed, resources and issues.
• Identify and resolve installation-related issues through fault-finding and diagnostics.
• Build positive relationships with customers, site teams and project managers to ensure safe, on-time delivery.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and quality across activities.

Lift Installation Engineer

As a Lift Installation Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering new lift installations across Scotland. Working across a variety of construction and building projects, you will be responsible for installing lift equipment safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, ensuring successful project delivery through to testing and handover. You will work closely with project teams, site personnel and customers, contributing to projects that help keep people moving safely and reliably.

Your main responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Installing lift shafts, mechanical components and ancillary equipment in line with approved installation procedures and safety requirements
• Installing and assembling traction equipment, including the positioning, alignment, fitting and adjustment of lift systems
• Installing and tensioning suspension ropes, governor ropes and associated safety equipment on new installations and modernisation projects
• Installing lift entrances, doors, frames and associated safety devices, including both manual and automatic door systems
• Carrying out final installation checks, adjustments and pre-commissioning activities to ensure equipment is ready for testing and handover
• Conducting site surveys and reviewing installation requirements to support efficient project delivery
• Monitoring progress on site and providing accurate updates on completed work, resource requirements and any issues impacting programme deliveryIdentifying and resolving installation-related issues through effective fault-finding and technical problem solving
• Building positive working relationships with customers, site teams, project managers and colleagues to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards
• Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping and quality across all installation activities

Who you are

• A recognised lift engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, SVQ Level 3 or equivalent, together with relevant lift installation experience
• Proven experience installing lift equipment within new installation, refurbishment or modernisation environments
• Strong technical knowledge of lift installation practices, equipment and industry standards
• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify and resolve installation-related issues effectively
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively to meet project deadlines
• Good communication and relationship-building skills when working with customers, site teams, project managers and inspectors
• A full driving licence valid for use in the UK
• A strong commitment to safe working practices and quality standards
• Experience working across a broad range of lift products and systems
• Knowledge of lift testing, commissioning or acceptance inspection processes
• Experience working on major construction, infrastructure or large-scale development projects
• Mechanical or electrical qualifications in addition to lift industry training and experience
