Job summary

Schindler Ltd (UK) is recruiting a Lift Installation Engineer for projects across Scotland, including Dundee. You will install lift equipment safely and to high standards, coordinating with project teams and customers to ensure on-time delivery and successful handover.

Ideal candidates have a recognised lift engineering qualification and experience across new installations, refurbishments or modernisations, with fault-finding skills and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised lift engineering qualification (NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Proven lift installation experience (new install, refurb or modernisation).
• Strong knowledge of lift installation practices, equipment and standards.

Responsibilities

• Install lift shafts, mechanical components and ancillary equipment per procedures and safety requirements.
• Assemble traction equipment and align lift systems.
• Carry out final installation checks, testing readiness and handover.
• Conduct site surveys and plan installation requirements.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping and quality across all activities.

Lift Installation Engineer

As a Lift Installation Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering new lift installations across Scotland. Working across a variety of construction and building projects, you'll be responsible for installing lift equipment safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, ensuring successful project delivery through to testing and handover. You'll work closely with project teams, site personnel and customers, contributing to projects that help keep people moving safely and reliably.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Installing lift shafts, mechanical components and ancillary equipment in line with approved installation procedures and safety requirements
• Installing and assembling traction equipment, including the positioning, alignment, fitting and adjustment of lift systems
• Installing and tensioning suspension ropes, governor ropes and associated safety equipment on new installations and modernisation projects
• Installing lift entrances, doors, frames and associated safety devices, including both manual and automatic door systems
• Carrying out final installation checks, adjustments and pre-commissioning activities to ensure equipment is ready for testing and handover
• Conducting site surveys and reviewing installation requirements to support efficient project delivery
• Monitoring progress on site and providing accurate updates on completed work, resource requirements and any issues impacting programme delivery
• Identifying and resolving installation-related issues through effective fault-finding and technical problem solving
• Building positive working relationships with customers, site teams, project managers and colleagues to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards
• Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping and quality across all installation activities

Essential Who you are

• A recognised lift engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, SVQ Level 3 or equivalent, together with relevant lift installation experience
• Proven experience installing lift equipment within new installation, refurbishment or modernisation environments
• Strong technical knowledge of lift installation practices, equipment and industry standards
• Fault‑finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to identify and resolve installation‑related issues effectively
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively to meet project deadlines
• Good communication and relationship‑building skills when working with customers, site teams, project managers and inspectors
• A full driving licence valid for use in the UK
• A strong commitment to safe working practices and quality standards

Desirable

• Experience working across a broad range of lift products and systems
• Knowledge of lift testing, commissioning or acceptance inspection processes
• Experience working on major construction, infrastructure or large-scale development projects
• Mechanical or electrical qualifications in addition to lift industry training and experience
