Job summary

Schindler Group in Greater Manchester is seeking a skilled lift maintenance technician to service and repair lift equipment across our building portfolio.

You will perform routine servicing, diagnose faults, and ensure safe operation with a focus on quality and customer service. A NVQ 3 in Lift Maintenance and a full UK driving licence are preferred requirements for this role.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in lift servicing, maintenance or repairs.
• NVQ Level 3 in Lift Maintenance (or an equivalent qualification).
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, with experience on multi-brand equipment.
• Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Independent, proactive approach with good communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with clients and Inspectors.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to use hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing of lift equipment and minor repair work per procedures.
• Rectify faults on lift equipment during breakdowns and verify correct functioning.
• Check lift function: speed, start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, power supplies.
• Conduct routine inspections and adjustments; reinstate lift and complete documentation.
• Perform advanced fault finding using appropriate test equipment and manuals.

Your main responsibilities

Carry out routine servicing of lift equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc)

To rectify and reduce faults on lift equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning

Checking the lift function as part of maintenance, checks to include, speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment

Conduct the routine inspection and adjustment of lift in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift and complete service documentation

Carrying out more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service.

What you bring

Previous experience in lift servicing, maintenance or repairs is preferred

NVQ Level 3 in Lift Maintenance (or an equivalent qualification)

Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, with experience working on multi-brand equipment

Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills

A full UK driving licence

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and maintain high standards of efficiency

Confident working independently, with a flexible and proactive approach

Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, Service Leaders and Inspectors

Good manual dexterity, with the ability to safely use hands, arms and feet for repetitive tasks, operate hand and power tools, and complete written records
