Job summary

Schindler Ltd (UK) is seeking a Lift Service Engineer (Nights) based in London. You will work on a 4 on 4 off shift, carrying out planned maintenance, minor repairs, and component replacements to ensure reliability of lift equipment for a major transport contract.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in lift maintenance (or equivalent), advanced electrical/mechanical knowledge, and a full UK driving license. You will diagnose faults, perform tests, and document activities in accordance with company

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 minimum in lift maintenance or equivalent.
  • Experience in lift servicing/maintenance/repairs preferred.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge including multi-brand equipment.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Flexible, independent worker with a proactive approach.
  • Strong communication with clients and inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing of lift equipment, including minor repair work and replacement of components according to approved procedures.
  • Rectify faults on lift equipment during breakdowns and verify correct function.
  • Perform checks on speed, motor start/stop, noise, temperature, and power supply with approved tools.
  • Inspect and adjust installations; reinstate lifts and complete service documentation.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostics using manuals and test equipment; restore equipment to service.
  • Use written or graphical information effectively.

Lift Call Out Engineer- Nights

Join us as a Lift Service Engineer (Nights) to join our team based in London, working on a 4 on 4 off shift basis for a prestigious transport client contract that we hold in London. The Technician will be experienced in carrying out planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms to our portfolio of lift equipment, with a focus on improving equipment condition to reduce time between technical callbacks and downtime. This role includes minor repair work, lifecycle replacement of components, and adherence to all company safety and conduct procedures. This is a full-time and permanent role.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing of lift equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, 2+ etc)
  • To rectify and reduce faults on lift equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning
  • Checks to include, speed, motor start/stop, noise temperature and power supply using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment
  • Carry out the routine inspection, adjustment, of installations in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift and complete service documentation
  • Carrying out fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service
  • Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information
Who You Are
  • Experience in lift Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in lift maintenance or equivalent
  • Advanced Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi-Brand equipment
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving License
  • The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies
  • The ability to work independently with a flexible approach
  • Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors)
  • Manual dexterity - Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills
