Job summary

Freedom Leisure is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure safe, friendly pool experiences at our facilities. You will help keep areas clean and welcoming while delivering excellent customer service.

The role offers 37 hours per week on a rota, training and progression opportunities, and benefits including pension and staff discounts. Applicants must be able to swim competently and complete a short course with assessment.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years of age on the date of assessment.
• Swim 50 metres in 60 seconds or less.
• Swim 100 metres front and 100 metres back.
• Available for the entire course duration including the assessment date.

In the role of Lifeguard, you will ensure the best levels of service are achieved for our customers through offering a friendly, clean and safe facilities.

We're not looking for the next Duncan Goodhew but you will need to be able to swim competently. If you need extra coaching to get to the level needed to become a lifeguard, don't worry as one of our excellent swim teachers will be able to support you to improve.

If you want to progress further, we will support this through additional training, both formal and on the job will be key. However, we also appreciate that not everyone wants to 'move up the ladder' and that's absolutely fine with us. What is really important is that you are happy in your work.

Hours: 37 hours a week, Monday - Sunday (rota basis)

We are looking for people who have the following attributes:

• Demonstrated passion and energy for the leisure industry

Requirements for training course:

• Be 16+ years of age on the date of assessment
• Jump / dive into deep water
• Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
• Swim 100 metres continuously on front and 100m continuously on back
• In deep water, tread water for 30 seconds
• Surface dive to the floor of the pool
• Climb out of the pool unaided without using a ladder / steps where the pool design permits

You will need to be available for the entire course duration including the assessment date.
