Job summary

RNLI Rhyl Lifeboat Station seeks a Senior Station Technician with strong leadership and mechanical/electrical/mechanical engineering background. You will lead volunteers, train crew, and ensure the Shannon Lifeboat is maintained and ready for emergencies.

You’ll manage daily station operations, engage with the public, and drive safety culture while developing skills across seagoing duties. A valid driving licence and willingness to respond 24/7 are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ L4/SVQ L5 in engineering or time-served apprenticeship required.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering preferred.
• Knowledge of marine diesel engines essential.
• Ability to lead and develop volunteers; work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and motivate the team; support development and training of volunteers.
• Manage day-to-day running of the Lifeboat Station; respond to emails and maintain records with the Operations Team.
• Lead Quality, Safety, Health and Environment initiatives and foster a positive culture.
• Engage with the public; build relationships with volunteers, supporters and RNLI staff as an ambassador.
• Demonstrate leadership to maximise people’s potential and pursue skills development; readiness to pass as RNLI ALB Afloat Mechanic.
• Experience in Lifeboat Mechanic role or seagoing duties; willing to develop other skills.
