Job summary

RNLI seeks a Coxswain for Peterhead Lifeboat Station to command lifeboats and oversee crew readiness. You will lead a volunteer team, ensure safety, and maintain the Tamar Class lifeboat and equipment so operations stay ready for emergencies.

You’ll train and assess crew members to RNLI standards, support station management, and coordinate with regional teams to uphold performance and safety at sea.

Qualifications

• Essential: RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Power) or equivalent (Commercially endorsed).
• Proven leadership and ability to lead volunteers at sea.
• Strong navigation knowledge including IRPCS and passage planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the lifeboat team and command lifeboats on passage and trials.
• Maintain equipment readiness of the Tamar Class lifeboat and associated gear.
• Train and assess volunteers to RNLI competence standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
