Job summary

RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat Station is seeking a Coxswain to lead seagoing operations, training, and safety compliance. You will oversee the Shannon Class lifeboat and equipment, command lifeboats on passages, and manage crew development under RNLI standards.

The role requires experience in RNLI Coxswain duties or readiness to acquire the necessary expertise. A valid driving licence is also required, with accommodation discussions possible for local or relocated candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience fulfilling RNLI Coxswain duties or demonstrated ability to develop skills to the required level soon.
• Maritime qualifications to complement your verifiable marine experience (e.g. RYA Yachtmaster).
• Demonstrable boat handling experience.
• Sound knowledge of navigation principles and IRPCS.

Responsibilities

• Lead Coxswain duties at Eyemouth lifeboat station to maintain operational readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Command lifeboats on passages and trials as required.
• Provide station training and crew progression to meet RNLI competence standards.
• Ensure vessel, equipment and crew are ready for service and resilient.
• Support station management and contribute to safety and incident response.
• Collaborate with volunteers and RNLI teams to maintain station operations.
