About the Role:

As the Life Skills Support Worker, you will be instrumental in shaping and delivering a practical, empowering life skills curriculum that supports individuals with learning disabilities and autism to build independence and prepare for volunteering, employment, or supported living. This role combines hands-on teaching with leadership and strategy. You'll oversee a team of support staff and volunteers, guiding them to deliver high-quality sessions while managing learner progression through personalised learning journeys.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll be responsible for curriculum development, performance monitoring, and fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment aligned with the organisations values.

As the Life Skills Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement an engaging, inclusive life skills curriculum tailored to learner needs.
  • Create and manage Individual Learning Journeys (ILJs) that support progression in confidence, independence, and practical abilities.
  • Use digital systems to securely record and track learner progress and outcomes.
  • Lead continuous improvement by gathering feedback from learners, families, and stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver accessible teaching resources that align with learner goals and organisational objectives.
  • Supervise and support the life skills team, including performance monitoring and development.
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice throughout all sessions.
  • Contribute to organisational strategy by providing data-driven reports and insights into learner development.

The Life Skills Support Worker will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven experience in developing and delivering life skills or vocational training in education, supported living, or social care.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or other additional needs is highly desirable.
  • A recognised qualification in teaching or assessing (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent).
  • A vocational qualification in training or assessment is an advantage.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or currently working towards it.
  • Solid understanding of safeguarding, equality, and diversity in educational and care settings.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Experience in staff management, mentoring, or performance review is essential.

You will be working 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Appointment will be subject to DBS clearance, right to work checks and satisfactory references.

Benefits of Joining:

This is a unique opportunity to join a purpose-driven organisation where you can directly impact the lives of learners and contribute to a supportive, empowering culture. You will be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and learner-focused development.

To Apply:

Please submit your CV and a cover letter explaining how your experience and values align with the role.
