Job summary

The Ellison Institute is seeking a senior engineer to join its AI & Robotics team in Oxford. You will own the system architecture from model endpoints to user interfaces, building agentic workflows for scientists and shaping the product in an emerging category.

You will work closely with scientists to translate their needs into engineering priorities, crafting producible, auditable systems with strong emphasis on reliability and speed of delivery.

Qualifications

You’ve built and shipped systems from scratch as a core engineer or standalone within a larger org.
You’ve built agentic AI products, with understanding of orchestration, tool use, human-in-the-loop review and evaluation.

Responsibilities

Build an end-to-end agentic workflow for scientists, from model endpoints to UI.
Develop the technical foundations for agentic systems including orchestration, interfaces, state management, and observability.
Design evaluation frameworks to determine if deployed models perform as intended.
Collaborate with scientists to translate insights into engineering priorities.
Define and guide the roadmap with product, data and research teams.
