Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking a Licensing & Out Of Hours Compliance Officer to enforce licensing and related regulations and to cover 7 days per week, 0800–0430, with a range of shifts including nights and weekends. The role sits in the Compliance and Community Safety Service within the Neighbourhoods Directorate, working with internal teams and GMP.

The candidate will manage enforcement of Premises Licensing, noise controls, and Health Act provisions, and will need a full UK driving

Qualifications

• A good knowledge of the local government regulatory and enforcement environment in particular Licensing, Environmental Health, Environmental Protection and Environmental Crime services.
• An ability to implement a wide range of interventions to ensure compliance.
• An ability to work shifts including some nights, evenings and weekends as required.
• Applicants must hold a full, valid, UK drivers licence.

Responsibilities

• Enforce standards across licensing, commercial and domestic noise, the Health Act including shisha, and oversee events throughout the City.
• Take ownership of on-street activities and ensure compliance outside normal hours.
• Work closely with colleagues such as the Anti-Social Behaviour Team, Trading Standards, Planning Enforcement and partners including Greater Manchester Police.
• Play a vital role in creating safer neighbourhoods and ensuring businesses operate responsibly through proactive compliance and enforcement.
