Job summary

Hyndburn Borough Council is seeking a Licensing Officer in Accrington. The role offers £27,709 to £29,542 per year, full-time, 37 hours per week, on-site. You will join a busy team licensing taxis, alcohol, regulated entertainment, gambling and other activities, and advise on licensing requirements.

The post requires enthusiasm, organisation, and the ability to work to deadlines. You will develop knowledge of licensing legislation, use IT systems, and communicate with diverse audiences.

You will be a member of a busy team responsible for the administration and issue of licences for various activities including (amongst others) taxis, the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment, the sale of alcohol and gambling.

You will be expected to check relevant documentation and issue licences in relation to various activities which are required to be licensed by Hyndburn Borough Council. You will be required to give advice as and when needed to anyone making licensing enquiries and you will therefore be expected to develop a wide and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of licensing legislation.

You will be confident using IT systems and have strong written communication skills, together with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
