Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is looking for a Licensing and Environmental Officer to join the Enforcement & Safety Service on a full-time, permanent basis. You will lead inspections, advise licensed businesses and prepare enforcement files, including Licensing Committee reports and FOI requests.

This hybrid role requires a full driving licence and strong knowledge of Environmental Protection law, with responsibilities spanning taxi, alcohol and entertainment licensing, investigations and service

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Environmental Protection law.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Full driving licence advantageous for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Protect and improve public licensing
• Process and consider license applications, including presentation at hearings
• Tackle complex licensing and regulatory challenges
• Support local businesses through advice, guidance and compliance work
• Investigate complaints and incidents
• Drive improvements in licensable operations
