Job summary

Bloomberg’s London office seeks an experienced Licensing Counsel to draft and negotiate licenses for data and technology services worldwide. You will support sales with commercial terms, assess legal risk, and guide product, business and risk colleagues on licensing projects.

The role emphasizes advising on complex licensing transactions, privacy, data security, IP, and regulatory issues while leading a Negotiations team.

Qualifications

• England and Wales qualification or JD with NY bar membership
• 5+ years PQE
• Experience drafting and negotiating licensing transactions
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to explain legal issues clearly to business and technology professionals
• Knowledge of IP, commercial contracts, and regulatory frameworks in financial markets
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and deliver guidance
• Solution-oriented mindset with ability to manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

• Negotiate customer and vendor license and service agreements
• Advise Product and Business on licensing transactions
• Identify and assess legal risks as products evolve, including AI developments
• Provide practical, business-oriented solutions and strategic guidance
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and Risk on privacy, data security, IP, and regulatory issues
• Develop scalable tools and frameworks to help Business teams manage legal risk
• Mentor and train Negotiations team members
