Role Summary
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Licensed Conveyancer to join a busy Residential Property team. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience and will be expected to manage a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to post-completion, with minimal supervision. This role would suit a confident fee earner with strong technical ability, sound client care skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters independently.
- Deal with freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
- Handle re-mortgages, transfers of equity and voluntary registrations.
- Advise clients on all stages of the conveyancing process.
- Review title documentation, searches, replies to enquiries and mortgage offers.
- Draft and approve contracts, transfer deeds and ancillary documentation.
- Exchange contracts and deal with completions.
- Attend to post-completion matters, including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.
- Ensure compliance with lender requirements, regulatory obligations and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate file records and case management systems.
- Provide a high standard of client care and maintain regular communication with clients, agents, brokers and third parties.
- Support the wider department as required, including supervision or mentoring of junior team members where appropriate.
- Contribute to business development, networking and the maintenance of referrer relationships.
Required Skills and Experience
- Qualification as a Licensed Conveyancer, Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant residential conveyancing experience.
- At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in residential property work.
- Proven ability to run a residential conveyancing caseload with minimal supervision.
- Strong working knowledge of the conveyancing process, Land Registry requirements, lender instructions and SDLT procedures.
- Experience of handling both freehold and leasehold transactions.
- Strong drafting, organisational and file management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and a practical approach to problem solving.
- The ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines.
- A strong commitment to client service and regulatory compliance.
Desirable Experience
- Experience of new build matters.
- Experience of shared ownership, Help to Buy and lease extensions.
- Previous supervisory or mentoring experience.
