Job summary

The Portsmouth School Department is seeking a Library Assistant Paraeducator to support the library media program and promote literacy, inquiry, and student success. You will work with the library media specialist, teachers, and staff to provide library services, instructional support, and technology assistance.

Assigned to the library media center, you may also assist with classroom support or behavior interventions across the district as needed, while maintaining a welcoming and organized

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of higher education or an associate's degree preferred.
• Ability to assist in reading, writing, or mathematics as needed via assessment.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the library media center.
• Provide readers' advisory and book recommendations.
• Assist students and staff with locating resources and using library technology.
• Promote literacy and reading initiatives within the school.
• Collaborate with library media specialist and teachers on instruction and programs.
